The Francesca figurine from Royal Worcester

Every single one of us collects something.  It might not be something that's considered to be a major collectable item (we were going to give sewing machines as an example, but the more we look into it, the more we realise how popular they actually are!) or you could be staying on trend and taking the time to develop a collection of particularly popular items, but whatever it is that takes your fancy, we all collect something.

With everything available to buy essentially able to be collected, there really is something for everyone, no matter what your tastes, interests or budget are.

But having been involved in the porcelain figurine industry for many years now, it never ceases to amaze us how popular it is - and not just with one age group, but a wide variety of different people, too.

A lot believe things such as Royal Doulton figurines are only collected by pensioners; people who have a love for traditional porcelain items and who want to display them proudly to their similar-aged friends and relatives.

Whilst there's no doubt such people do collect these figurines, they're not by any stretch of the imagination the only group and the reality is, whether you're 8 or 88, we've seen people of all ages add to their collections regularly.

And so today, we want to reach out to you and ask just what is it that makes you want to collect porcelain figurines?  What's so appealing that you want to have as many as possible to showcase in your home?

Genuinely interested to hear what everyone has to say (and not just our customers, but everyone who enjoys the industry), please do feel free to leave a comment below and explain just why you love collecting porcelain figurines.

We know for some it's the simple fact they're beautiful.  Stunning items, they can look fantastic in any home.  Whether it's traditional or modern, when displayed in the most suitable way possible for the style of home, they can add a great touch to any property.

For many others, it's more the financial aspect, as they can make for great investments over time.  As we discussed previously, they're not necessarily the best items for quick turnaround investments, but if you're happy to keep the figurines for several years - which many are - they can prove to offer a great return on your investment.

Whatever your reason for collecting porcelain figurines is, we'd love to hear it, so please leave a comment below and share it not only with us, but everyone else who loves the likes of Royal Doulton and Coalport, too.

The Imogen figurine from Coalport

Over the years we've developed a particularly loyal customer base.

Growing and expanding just as we have as a company, it's always pleasing to see new customers as much as it is returning ones - it makes us confident that we're definitely doing something right!

With customers coming back to us and new ones visiting for various reasons, they all have different expectations.

But what, in general, should you expect from us?

First and foremost - and the point we like new customers to understand before anything else - is that whatever collectible figurine you're looking for or whichever of our services you considering using, you'll always have it provided and delivered with only the highest standard of customer service.

We know that above all else, no matter which products we have available or how in demand they may be, if the general service we provide is poor, the product selection isn't going to matter a great deal.

However, as we do aim for only the highest level of customer service, it's time to talk about what you should expect in terms of the products!

Stocking a vast array of different new and retired figurines, as our name suggests, Royal Doulton is what we specialise in and we're proud of our range, but they're not the only brand we offer figurines from.

Doing our utmost to provide a wide variety of collectibles, we have figurines from Beswick, Coalport, Royal Crown Derby and Royal Worcester.

And what's more, if you can't find something you like or are looking for, you simply have to get in touch and we'll do our utmost to source it - we even offer a no-obligation search service, meaning you can find out if the collectible is available without having to commit to buying it.

What's also important to understand is that we don't just help our customers by providing them with the products they're looking for, but we can help when their figurines go missing or get damaged, too.

Offering a full insurance support service, from an in-depth valuation through to a complete replacement, we know that accidents happen sometimes and that you want the whole scenario resolving as quickly as possible, which is why we ensure we're delivering only the most effective and efficient service at all times.

We love being in this industry.  Huge admirers of all of the figurines we offer, we get a huge amount of satisfaction knowing that we're providing products and services that are truly pleasing our customers.

Striving to continually meet expectations, we only want to deliver the highest standard of customer service possible and if you have any questions about anything we offer - Royal Doulton or otherwise - you simply have to get in touch.

The Blenheim Park lady figurine from Coalport

We've developed a great reputation over the years as a provider of Royal Doulton figurines.

Loving their beauty and enjoying their majestic style, we do as much as possible to offer a range of Royal Doulton figurines to suit everyone's personal preferences and requirements.

However, as much as we adore the Royal Doulton figurines we provide, they're not the only ones on offer and one of the other leading brands we provide figurines from is Coalport.

With a number of stunning figurines available, we've divided those that we provide into five separate ranges.

1.  Age Of Elegance

One of the retired collections from Coalport that we offer, the porcelain figurines within this range are all of ladies in a variety of outfits for various different occasions.

Created in soft, subtle colours with a matt finish, the detail is unbelievable, whether you're looking at Afternoon Matinee or Summer Saunter.

2.  Ladies Of Fashion

One of Coalport's most popular collections, you'll find a range of ladies dressed in stunningly beautiful gowns here.

Having names that perfectly match the elegance of the figurines, they all follow the same high standards from Coalport, but are each completely individual and utterly unique.

3.  Beau Monde

A petite range of figurines, this retired Coalport collection is full of beautiful ladies, many of who are dressed in compellingly romantic outfits.

Finished in matt, a lot of these figurines first became available nearly two decades ago, yet they continue to be immensely popular to this day.

4.  Debutantes

The word debutante comes from the French débutante and generally refers to an aristocratic young lady who, upon reaching the age of maturity, is formally introduced into society as a lady ready for marriage.

With the débutante often attending a prestigious event, this range of petite figurines from Coalport does wonders to replicate the beauty of the ladies.

5.  Other

Bringing together a collection of Coalport's figurines from various other ranges, this group includes a number of limited edition and highly sought after pieces.

Diana, Princess Of Wales - The Signature Edition is a prime example.  With only 5,000 produced in the UK, the figurine is simply breathtaking, capturing the beauty of a lady so many consider to be one of the world's most stunning royal brides.

Providing a whole range of different figurines from various 'English Potteries', there's little doubt that some of our favourite pieces come from Royal Doulton, but there are just as many who come from other companies, with plenty of these from Coalport being a perfect example.

4 Brands We Offer At The Doulton Lady Other Than Royal Doulton

The beautiful Coalport Operetta figurineAs you may have guessed, our speciality at The Doulton Lady is Royal Doulton and the many beautiful products they offer.

Like so many others, we absolutely adore the figurines that Royal Doulton have produced over the years and which they continue to produce to such a high standard today.

It's because of this why when we setup the company, we had an aim to specialise and offer the figurines from Royal Doulton first and foremost.  As with every successful company, we wanted to be able to provide the products we wanted to buy ourselves!

But, as much as we love Royal Doulton, they're not the only brand whose products we truly adore and the truth is, the vast majority of those companies from the English Potteries produce products that we'd love to have in our house - which is why, alongside Royal Doulton, we also stock figurines from four other major brands.

1.  Coalport

With the company dating back to 1795, when John Rose started creating pottery by the Coalport Canal, Rose had many years experience in pottery and soon expanded his company.

Continuing to happen for decades, by 1890 there was an extensive export business in place to America and Canada.

Seeing huge success over the years, in 1926 production moved to Staffordshire and the company was taken over by the Wedgwood Group, although they retained the Coalport name and have continued to build on the success John Rose started to this day.

2.  Royal Crown Derby

One of the oldest of the English Pottery companies, dating back to around 1750, Royal Crown Derby were originally known as 'Derby Porcelain' and their name changed to 'Crown Derby' in 1773 when King George III granted them approval to use the royal crown on their products.

Just over a century later, Queen Victoria appointed them as 'Manufacturers of porcelain to Her Majesty', at which point the name changed once more to that which we know today.

Whilst the main factory ceased production for many years in the 20th century, as the brand was incorporated within the Allied English Potteries Group, in 2000 former director of Royal Doulton Hugh Gibson led a buy-out and made Royal Crown Derby a separate company once more.

3.  Royal Worcester

Considered by many to be the oldest English Pottery company (although it's often argued that Royal Crown Derby hold this title, as they were both founded around 1750), the company have long been associated with some of the highest quality porcelain products available on the market.

Although the company unfortunately went into administration in November 2008, all of the intellectual property rights were purchased by the Portmeirion Group in 2009 and they have continued to produce products under the Royal Worcester brand since.

4.  Beswick

One of the youngest companies from the English Potteries, Beswick was setup in 1892 by James Wright Beswick and his two sons, John and Gilbert.  However, this 'inexperience' in no way detracts from the wonderful porcelain figurines the company has created over the years.

Known largely for their Beatrix Potter figurines, the Beswick company was actually sold to Royal Doulton in 1969 and although production continued until the late 1980s, it was sporadic afterwards.

However, in 2005, the brand was bought by Yorkshire company John Sinclair (Sheffield) Ltd and production of high quality animal figurines once again started under the Beswick name.

Huge fans of all English Pottery companies, Royal Doulton may be the brand we're known for primarily, but we really are delighted to be offering fantastic porcelain figures from a range of other potteries, as we know just how beautiful the figures from various other companies are.

Royal Doulton Ascot British Sporting Heritage And Autum Breezes Green And Pink FigurinesAt The Doulton Lady, our aim is simple - to offer the highest quality product lines from the English Potteries, whilst simultaneously providing a first class level of customer service.

A young company constantly moving forward, we've gained a fantastic reputation for being both efficient and reliable - and we're delighted our hard work is being recognised, as this really is what we're trying to do!

Specialising in discontinued Royal Doulton figurines, as well as stocking a range of products from numerous other companies, such as Coalport and Royal Worcester, when we setup the company, we toyed with the idea of delivering brand new products from the English Pottery companies.

After much thought, however, we realised that products such as those from Royal Doulton are timeless, yet are often only produced and made available for a limited period.

Knowing how much so many of these ranges are still loved, it made sense to take a step away from the brand new products and offer the discontinued ranges - so that's what we've been doing successfully for many years now!

Whilst the products we offer obviously speak for themselves (whether you're a fan of Royal Doulton pottery or not, for example, there's no doubt the pieces are beautiful and of a quality you're unlikely to find from any other manufacturer), we wanted to stand out and ensure people wanted to return time and time again, even if that was just to take a look at what ranges we had on offer at any one time.

And by delivering a constantly high level of service, we truly feel we are doing this continually - and now we've added a blog into the scenario, we know this is only going to get better!

The whole focus is to give you news, information and advice on everything related to the figurines we offer and the companies they come from.  You can obviously call or e-mail us at any time and we'll answer any questions you have, but we know that sometimes you want to do your own research (plus, as much as we'd like to be, we're unfortunately not awake 24 hours a day to answer your calls and e-mails!).

Therefore, whilst we'll be regularly updating the blog, if you've got any questions you'd like us to answer here, don't hesitate to get in touch and let us know - whether it's about Royal Doulton figurines or just a general question about English pottery, we really will do our best to give you a full and in-depth answer, published on our blog to help all others with the same question!
