This is probably one of my all time favourite character figurines from Royal Doulton, and it is Royal Doulton at its best.  The colours are rich and vibrant and the modelling is distinct. 

The figurine is full of detail; the scoundrel in the stocks tucks into an apple that has been thown at him and his one cheek is full with it, a cabbage also lies alongside him where it has been thrown.  His wonderfully ugly features are a trademark of the excellent modellor Mary Nicoll.

In The Stocks is a must-have for the serious collector of retired Royal Doulton figurines.
